Can You Start Today?

Now and a year away, "Think about something that you have always wanted to do — a year's time from now you will wish you had started today. "

What does that actually mean?

It means you may have dreams and aspirations that locked away somewhere that are just waiting to blossom. I’m guilty of it, you’re guilty of it, your neighbour is probably guilty of it! I know that almost all of us have something we have not started.

But, why not? Why don’t we like to start new things or embark on a new journey?

For some of us, we have been using the same excuses against starting things for a long time. So, ask yourself — why have you still not done it? Do you find yourself still thinking about it?

That means that it's time to start today.

Even if that means starting off by taking little baby steps towards doing whatever it is you want to do.

Don’t worry, this is not just me nagging you from the void. I have set myself on a journey that perhaps I have been putting off for a long time — I have started videoing myself practicing yoga!

After doing classes online for the past 12 years and having started yoga over 23 years ago, it is only now that I have actually pushed myself into a space that I am not all that comfortable with. I have begun recording my daily yoga sessions! And, although it is only a couple of people who have seen and I am still fine-tuning the specifics, it is still incredible progress!

This is my declaration. And I have actually been thinking about doing this for a while — it is only now that I have actually started doing it.

The biggest hurdles that I am finding at the moment is determining my own specific way of practicing and finding my unique voice. Also, I have to learn how to practice whilst in front of the camera and speaking through the asanas. Additionally, I have to keep my set up and lighting simple and very compact, as I hope to soon be traveling again whilst creating this yoga.

My husband and I are renovating a house on the Mani Peninsula, deep in the Peloponnese. In 2-3 hours radius from our house is Sparta, Ancient Olympia and remarkable medieval towns such as Monemvasia. My ultimate aim is to find amazing sites around the world (beginning with Greece!) where I can conduct my yoga practise from different archeological sites. By utilising my mobile to record the practice is going to be mobile, and oh so exciting! By creating inspirational 10 minute yoga videos from where ever I am — I aspire to inspire.

So, this is my declaration. Here is to Yoga is from wherever I am.

I have thought about doing it for so long now and I have only just started it. But, in a year from now, what is going to have happened?

So, what about you? What is your declaration?

Send me a PM to let me know where are with the challenge you want to begin!
